Crafting a Spring Wreath

I have been so inspired by all the lovely wreaths sprouting here in blogland.  I was especially inspired by this beautiful creation by Wendy over at Ramblings from the Sunshine State.  Please check it out, you will find some wonderful things there.  I created my own twist on the project and this is the result:

I wrapped the wreath in yarn.  (This can take a while) I bought this wreath at a thrift store for $.75!  I had all other supplies already so this is the total cost of this project.

I cut out letters free hand ( I am not a perfectionist, more of an impatient crafter:))

I used pins to attach the letters so that all the decor can be changed out with each season.  Again this is because I am an impatient crafter and the yarn wrapping took too long for my liking.  I love projects I can complete in under 2-3 nap times.

I like it like this too.

I then made a crepe paper flower for each letter and simple stuck the pipe cleaner into to the letter.

Cut pieces of crepe paper ( use streamers)  into the shape of the number 8.  Use 2 pieces per flower and place on top on each other in opposite directions.  Press pipe cleaner through the center and fold over to keep it in place.  Then pinch the paper at the base to create the look of a flower.  Cut short stems and place in wreath at each letter.

I like that this can be transformed for any holiday or season!

The flowers look nice like this too.  Keep the stems long for this.
