Spring? Into Action…

Ok if Bill is out back turning over the soil in the garden than Spring must be close!  Yeah!  I can’t wait to go grocery shopping in garden.

One of my goals this year is to learn exactly what  people with green thumbs do. Thankfully Bill’s thumb is deep green while mine has been dirt brown.  Dirt?  Hey maybe there is hope for me yet.  We have had a garden for three years now and have had great luck so for. We plant lots of Organic fruits and vegetables.   I would love to try my hand at a flower garden filled with flowers natural to this area.  These usually require less care/ water as they would grow here normally.  Wish me luck.  I welcome ANY tips you have.

I feel a list coming on.  I LOVE lists:

Spring and Summer Goals:  ( I reserve the right to add, change, or delete any or all contents based on mood, outfit, or whatever my reasoning might be at that moment:))

  1. Assist in the gardening/ planting process
  2. Grow Wild Flowers
  3. Compost- beyond putting table scraps into old coffee containers.  Could use some help here too!
  4. Learn to Can
  5. Have enormous garage sale or continue donating until basement floor is revealed.
  6. Make waterproof garden labels for each variety/ item.  The results coming soon for this!
  7. Start desk project -can’t wait for this!  Before pictures coming soon.
  8. Donn a sun dress and a large hat and happily skipped to the garden with a basket to gather lovely vegetables and fresh flowers.
  9. Hang my laundry outside to dry (again wearing a lovely sun dress )
  10. Frolic with the kids (as they are pulling vegetables out of the garden and clothes off the line:))
  11. Wear skirts again
  12. Pack picnic lunches more often than not (even just for the backyard)
  13. Have our window open as much and as often as possible.
  14. Be so organized that I can read during nap time.  Or at least organized enough.
  15. Spend time with family and friends.

I Can’t Wait!

What do you want to do this Spring?

  1. Well I live in Australia, so am looking at autumn/winter but I love your spring summer goals.

Just found your blog from the money saving monday blog hop and you have such great ideas. I love the little photo albums, the colour coded hair tie jars which look very neat and am really looking forward to seeing your garden.

I have a bit of a black thumb. I am only able to grow a few things at the moment because I have not touched them and let them do their thing. We discovered them after clearing away weeds (a small rose bush and a few other things) so left them to grow and they are doing so well. I want to plant veg and things later, but wont do it here since we plan on moving.

    Anyway, love your blog! 🙂

Thank you so much for the sweet note! I wish you luck with growing adventures. I will share any great tips I come across and we will see how my flowers turn out. Maybe I can grow a weed garden:) Thanks for stopping by here and look forward to you coming back. Greetings to Australia -Fall is a wonderful time of year too!

  2. learning what people with green thumbs do! hysterical! i call myself a remedial planter, so i’d say i definitely do not get gardening, much as i try and want it to work out! also, i love lists, so i think we will get along nicely! 🙂

always like to meet a fellow cape!

  3. We garden, can, compost & raise chickens! I blogged about both a few posts back. Canning is easy. We canned 50 pints of green beans last year! I bought my canning kit at Walmart. And here is the Ball website: http://www.freshpreserving.com/. It includes directions on canning.
